During the weekends, the children at the hospital do not receive any treatment so the Kythe Foundation, us included, aren't needed in the hospital. With our free time, we decided to explore the city. On Saturday we went to one of the museums in the city. Casa Gorordo Museum is a traditional Filippino/Spanish house showcasing how the rich elite of Cebu used to live. We saw traditional farming tools, and the original furniture, which had influences from the original Chinese/Spanish settlers. Near the museum, there is also the Heritage of Cebu Monument, a beautiful statue showcasing the key moments in the history of Cebu and the people who have shaped the city into what it is today. On Sunday, we took the bus to Tops, it is on one of the hills just outside Cebu and gives you a wonderful view of the nature, the city, and if it is clear, you can even see all the way to the next island. On our way back down the hill we stopped at the Temple of Leah, a tomb built by her husband in her memory in 2012 and now holds all the items she collected over her lifetime (so many pots). From there we were also able to have a nice view from a slightly different angle. Overall a great first weekend where we were able to explore the city a little and learn its history.
